We all get insurance for our car and holidays, so isn’t it a good idea to insure what incurable romantics describe as the best day of your life – your wedding day.

The average cost of wedding insurance is only £50 to £100, but it will cover many eventualities including double bookings, damage to the dress, accidents to canapés and rings and cancellations due to illness.
However, it will not cover the bride or groom getting cold feet!

Most wedding policies will cover you for cancellation due to the death, illness or injury of the bride, groom or a close relative (although the definition of close relative varies from policy to policy, so check before signing the agreement). Policies may also cover jury service or redundancy.

Insurance will also cover situations where the bride or groom can’t attend the wedding due to extreme weather conditions – for example, someone coming back from a trip abroad who is snowed in and unable to attend. You will also be protected if rings, wedding clothes or gifts are stolen, lost or damaged.
